Where were you 5 years ago today?

Last Thursday night I was flipping through channels and I stopped on Channel 2. They had on a chronicle of the World Trade Center's rise and fall called :“New York: A Documentary Film”. For me it was tough to watch. I found my self crying when they got to the coverage of the events of 9/11/01.

I don't want to forget what happened 5 years ago today because it changed my world. I believe that remembering events and history is critical. We can all learn lessons about ourselves and others by trying to understand why things happen, and how they become catalysts for change. The world is a system, everything that we do, or don't do, effects events and outcomes. Every single person is a part of that system. Think "Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe" and the world is a computer trying to come up with the ultimate question. In remembering what happened, how it made us feel, how we reacted, and where we are now, maybe we can come up with the ultimate answer.

This is where I was 5 years ago today, finishing up a 5K in Philadelphia, PA. At the time we took this picture, we had no idea what was going to happen 45 minutes later, only 81 miles away. We were at a national convention, for the next three days we were stuck there trying to make sense of it all.

I can only hope that someday my world will feel as safe as it did at 8am on 9/11/01.
